PROCESS: How to Order Your Original Portrait Art
Painting portraits is my passion! I have tried to make things easy to understand by offering a detailed breakdown of what to expect when ordering your own custom painting from me. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
I paint most animals (dogs, cats, cows, goats, etc.) and people’s portraits. You can commission a painting with a single subject, two subjects or more depending on the size of the canvas/paper.
I work in two separate mediums; acrylic on canvas and gouache on paper.
All acrylic paintings are created on acid-free and archival quality. The back of the canvas will be hand-signed and titled.
All sides of the canvas will be painted to complete the painting. I prepare all canvases with hooks and wire for your convenience; just unwrap and display it (no frame required)!
Gouache paintings are created on high-quality, acid free paper (100 lb. or 140 lb. depending on size) and will require a frame. Gouache is a beautiful opaque paint in the watercolor family.
Background for paintings are typically one color or various tones of one color. If there is a specific color that you do not like, please let me know! I will offer color suggestions for you to chose from once the subject of the painting has been completed.
All original art will include a Certificate of Authenticity that include the painting’s details with my signature.
Many sizes are available to choose from; please download the .jpg file . If there are sizes not listed that you are interested in, please contact me, and I can provide you with more information. Prices listed are for one and two subjects. If you would like an additional animal or person added to the painting, please contact me. Download commission size and prices HERE.
The size of the canvas or paper is a major factor in determining how much of the subject can be included.
WHAT I NEED:
Please e-mail 2-4 photos that are clear and of high resolution that show the subject’s face well. The more detail I can see, the more I can capture. I will suggest which photo will translate best into an original, hand painted portrait.
Once the artwork is close to completion, I will send you a photo. If a small revision is requested, I will do what I can to accommodate you. If larger revisions are requested, an additional fee of $50/hr will be added to the final invoice.
My paintings are interpretations of the subject and their soul; one-of-a-kind art – not photo-realistic reproductions.
**Artwork will be sent by ground shipping with insurance. Taxes, shipping and insurance are paid by the buyer. If ordering outside of the United States, please inform me during initial contact so that I can plan accordingly.**
Completion times depend on my schedule and the amount of paintings that are being worked on. For smaller paintings (12×12 and smaller), I can often have the painting completed in 2-4 weeks, possibly sooner (PLUS shipping time).
If time is of the essence for you, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. If a rush order is requested, there will be an additional charge.
I require 50% of the fee as a deposit to begin creating your original painting. Upon completion, the remaining 50% plus sales tax and shipping will be due.
If you would prefer a payment plan, we can arrange that as well.
For your protection, payments are made through PayPal. Simply log into PayPal, select “send money” and enter the email address: email@example.com with the invoiced amount. I only accept checks under specific, individual circumstances.
